Include a Carpenter’s Pencil in Your Bug Out Bag

A carpenter’s pencil is a useful item to have in you BOB. It’s durable, you can sharpen it with any blade you happen to have and you could even drill a hole in the end of it to tether to your bag. The Home Depot ones are pretty cheap and come in an orange color so if you do happen to drop it, you can find it easily.

Manticore Arms NightBrake on Zastava M92 PAP

I felt that a 7.62 pistol needed the help of a compensator or brake to tame recoil. The Manticore Arms NightBrake is the best one I could find for the 26×1.5 left hand thread of this pistol. Because I take the M92 in my truck and may need to use it inside the vehicle, I wanted to keep it as short as possible and this brake only adds 1.125″ to the overall length. It’s machined from 8620 steel and heat treated which make this a very solid muzzle brake.

WA Congresswoman Suzan DelBene’s Response

Here is Washington State Congresswoman, Suzan DelBene’s response to my letter asking her to support the 2nd Amendment.

Thank you for contacting my office and sharing your views on gun legislation. I understand that this is an important issue for many of my constituents and I appreciate you taking the time to write me.

I am committed to working to identify bipartisan policy solutions that will better protect our children and communities from tragic mass shootings. There is no one law or set of laws that will prevent every single instance of senseless violence, but we must do a better job of preventing gun violence. We must also keep in mind that the Second Amendment guarantees an individual the right to bear arms. Most gun owners are responsible and law-abiding, and they use their guns safely.

As a member of the House Judiciary Committee, I am eager to review legislation and identify common-sense steps that we can take to prevent gun violence and mass shootings while also respecting the rights of law-abiding gun owners. For example, too many guns today are still sold without a background check and too many individuals prohibited from having a gun slip through the cracks. I believe that strengthening our system of background checks is critical, and I support legislation that would require universal background checks of all gun purchases. We also need to give law enforcement the necessary tools to crackdown on illegal gun trafficking and take concrete steps to improve access to mental health care.

As we move forward, I will consult with law enforcement officials, mental health and public health experts, parents and families of victims, educators, and law-abiding gun owners in order to craft legislation that is responsible and effective. Rest assured that as proposals to curb gun violence come before the House Judiciary Committee, I will certainly keep your views in mind.

Again, thank you for voicing your concern on this critical public safety issue. I invite you to stay connected with me by signing up for my e-newsletter at Through this newsletter, I will periodically ask for your opinion on votes and will notify you on issues affecting the district. I can also be reached on Facebook at and on Twitter at My office is here to serve you, so please do not hesitate to contact us.

Per-Sec Systems, LLC. Signature Series Kydex Holster and Standard Mag Carrier

The Per-Sec Signature Series holster removes excess material which allows the most options for placement on the belt without interferring with your ability to get into your pockets.

The build quality is excellent with no sharp edges and retention is very positive with a ‘click’ unlike I’ve felt/heard on any the other kydex holster I’ve owned. The same can be said about the Standard Mag Carrier. I have little concern about the pistol or mag falling out under aggressive movement and even with this retention, it still allows for a smooth draw.

Additionally, the belt loops are wide enought to fit snugly on the thick Ares Gear Ranger belt (as shown above) but still holds close to the body on a thinner belt like a Wilderness Original Instructor belt. The Signature series will not work with all belt attachement options but is still an excellent option for outside the waistband concealed carry.
